Lately, I’ve been very choosey about the products I review.  I am getting rather tired of the same ole, same ole, so I am only choosing new, unique and innovative products for review.

Introducing the Fixsation Couple’s Vibrator

Fixsation Couple’s Vibe from MyFixsation.com claims it does what other vibes have tried to do.  That is: stimulate the clitoris during penetrative sex.   You may remember the Rabbit vibrator that became famous from “Sex and the City”.  These vibes feature clitoral bunny ears and a vibrating, penetration phallic appendage.  Unlike Charlotte however, I could never make a Rabbit vibrator fit me.  Then came the We-vibe, a couple’s vibe that was supposed to stimulate both the clitoris and G-spot during sexual intercourse.   I found these uncomfortable to wear, and too weak to stimulate my clitoris.

So, I was very excited to see a new company come out with a novel approach to the couple’s vibe, which is a small clitoral vibrator that utilizes strap-on crotchless panties, which can be worn during partner sex.  It is a great concept, and I can tell that the founder, Tiffany York, has put a lot of thought and effort into the product and its creation.

Research has shown that 70% of women cannot orgasm from penetration alone and need clitoral stimulation to reach climax.  So, there is a definite NEED in the market for a vibrator like the Fixsation that can be worn during partner sex to stimulate the woman’s clitoris, bring more pleasure to both partners, hopefully creating better intimacy, and a better sex life.

Packaging

One of my biggest pet peeves in the sex toy industry is packaging.  All those awful clamshell plastic packages, ugggh!  Well, the Fixsation and Panty Companion come in a lovely black, decorative cardboard box, complete with vibe, recharger cord, an elegant satin silver storage bag, as well as instruction sheet, with warranty and 30 day guarantee.  Overall, a beautiful presentation that shows me the creators are proud of their product and want it to stand out.

How Does it Work?

The Fixsation vibe is fairly small, approximately 3” in length and 2” wide.  It has a male side and a female side, and is concave in shape, with a clitoral “hump” on the female side.  Worn with the accompanying “panty companion” the clitoral hump is supposed to fix next to the clitoris to stimulate it, while the flat rounded side presses against the man’s pelvis, leaving the vagina free for intercourse.

The Panty Companion

The Fixsation vibe attaches via the Panty Companion, a pair of crotchless panties with removable bands that slide through the side chambers of the vibe.  They are made of black lace and are very sexy and come in sizes Small, Medium, Large, XL, and XXL.  The panties are separate, and don’t come attached to the vibe, so there is “some assembly required”.  And, you would think it would be easy to attach these correctly, however, maybe I am dyslexic as I managed to attach the vibe backwards and upside-down.  Which is pretty frustrating when you just want to put on the product and try it out.  So, I do recommend attaching the panties before your intended liaison with your partner, to avoid frustration and embarrassment.  However, I figured out if I wore the panties inside-out and backwards, the vibe ended up where it was supposed to be so went with that the first go around.  Not ideal, but it worked.  It would be great if this vibe came “pre-assembled” for noobs like me.  I understand why it is not, because of the various sizes of panties that can go with it, but just a thought.

Rechargeable

The Fixsation is rechargeable and takes 8 hours to fully charge the first time, lasts for 2 hours of play and then only 4 hours to recharge after that.  It has an LED light that glows while charging and stops when the charging is completed.  It has a small nub button that you hold down for 2 seconds to turn off/on, then press to dial through the 3 vibration modes: subtle, medium, and a bit stronger.  While the strongest vibration felt fairly strong in my hand, next to my clitoris, it provided minimal stimulation and was more “buzzy” in sensation.

The reason why that it was not very strong is because first of all the Fixsation vibe was too large for my personal anatomy.  It didn’t fit easily inside of my outer labia, in order to stimulate my clitoris well (was too wide) and was too long and covered half of my vaginal opening.  Every woman’s anatomy is different, so other women may not have this problem at all, but I am very petite.  I thought at first it was because I had the vibe on wrong (backwards/ upside-down) in the panty harness, but even after I fixed it for the second try out I still had the same problems.  So, I’d recommend making the vibe itself a bit smaller (thinner) for smaller women, and teardrop shaped (instead of rounded) to more easily fit closer to the clitoris and inside the outer labia.  Also, shortening the length of it as much as possible, to avoid getting in the way of the vaginal opening.  There is a big difference in vaginal to clitoral separation in women, so like I said everyone is different.  I also recommend having the front straps come from the top of the vibe, where the top of the teardrop would be if teardrop shaped, rather than the sides to hold it better in place.

Comfort

Aside from the vibe being slightly too large for my anatomy, it and the panty companion were comfortable to wear.  In fact, I soon forgot I was wearing it during sex, and I’ve been wearing it all the time while writing this review.  That in itself is both a good thing and a bad thing, because while I do want comfort, I also want to notice I have a vibrator stimulating me.

Pleasure Component

Like I said above, the vibrations were fairly mild, even on the strongest setting once attached.  If the vibe were smaller and fit closer to my clitoris, I would have felt them much more.  However, this vibe could still use a more strength for vibrations in my opinion as well.  Coupled with penetration in missionary style, it did however give stimulation to my vulva which would not have been there otherwise.  Also, in missionary style it utilizes your partner’s pressure and movement to concentrate the vibrations, which adds greatly in how well this vibe works overall.  Without the pressure, the stimulation is not nearly adequate enough, so in doggie style or other positions, you may need to apply pressure to it, by holding it in place, which takes away from the “hands-free” advantage of this vibe.  I think stronger elastics would help solve this problem, coupled with a better fitting/shaped/sized vibe.

Overall

Overall, I think the Fixsation Couple’s Vibe is a great new innovation in couple’s pleasure objects.  I think the design is well thought out, but perhaps needs a bit of tweaking when it comes to different anatomies.   It is made of medical-grade materials, is rechargeable and waterproof, which are all big bonuses.  It is also non-toxic, hypoallergenic, phthalate and latex free, which are very important considerations when choosing a sex toy.

While this vibe didn’t work as well as I had hoped for me, I do encourage other couples to try it, as your experience will most likely be very different than mine.  There is a 30 day Satisfaction Guarantee for the product, so you really have nothing to lose.  If you love it you win and if you don’t you get your money back.  I do think it is a great new product and a savvy new company and hope to see much more from them as well as future improvements for the Fixsation itself.
