My Self-Produced Porn- Fatale Femmes
I am sure many of you readers are unaware that I went to art school for 6 years to study film production, photography and film criticism. When I graduated, I had a vision of creating female empowered porn and opened my own company with two other friends called Fatale Femmes.
This is our original mission statement:
“Fatale Femmes Inc. is a female owned and operated film production company based in Nova Scotia, Canada who produce underground fetish films from an empowered female perspective.
Traditionally, the adult film industry has been the sole domain of male desire, focusing only on male perspectives and pleasure. We feel the need to explore the desires of sexually empowered women and to deconstruct patriarchal stereotypes, while at the same time reclaiming the “femme fatale” as a positive sexual role model. Fatale Femmes is not interested in the generic style of porn that currently saturates the market. Instead, we hope our films will offer a sexy and artistic alternative that stimulates the mind as well as the libido.
It is our mission to film, distribute and sell the finest quality adult fetish films with a continued commitment to incorporating women’s perspectives and values by promoting safe and moral business practices that respect ALL genders. We hope to redeem porn by producing sexuality explicit entertainment for concerning adults that is artistic, thought provoking, authentic, sex positive, spontaneous, hot, radical, political, pansexual, edgy, gender inclusive and above all embraces women’s sexual power.

Unfortunately, my two friends backed out before we ever got started and due to the cost of 5 student loans and 6 years of not working while going to school, I was forced to quit the project. However, for a few years I did turn the film company into the photography company and took many images of the type of content I was searching for and wanted to make.

I do hope to go back to my Fatale Femmes project someday (hopefully in the near future) and start producing my own films. All I need is time, money and a studio! I have quite a few ideas and scripts, so eventually Fatale Femmes may become more than just a dream.
