“Telepaths Don’t Need Safewords” Book Review

Telepaths Don't Need Safewords

"Telepaths Don't Need Safewords" by Cecilia Tan

Telepaths Don’t Need Safewords” is an erotic e-book written by Cecilia Tan. The book is 37 pages long and features three separate stories that the author has written in the past. I honestly don’t usually review e-books since I usually dislike reading on my laptop, but this book was the perfect length between long and short since it was long enough to keep my attention but short enough to seem like a doable task. None of the e-book pages scream “erotica”, so it’d be possible to read this book out in public without a problem.

The three separate stories are really different from one another. I was surprised. The book’s title is really only a title that belongs to the first story – the other two stories were nothing like the first. I do have to admit that the first story was easily my favorite though. However, all three stories were written with good language and grammar which can sometimes be a problem when you are reading e-books.

The first story is about a Master and slave that attend a kinky BDSM party together. While this is hot in itself (sharing slaves and other kinky things), it’s increased by the fact that the Owner and the slave can speak telepathically to one another. They both have side conversations with each other that no one can hear which is interesting. I won’t ruin the ending, but this story ends in some forced-kink which I wasn’t fond of nor aroused by, but it was a good ending to the story. The story’s two characters were very memorable, and I honestly would love to read more stories featuring the two of them. Aside from the ending, the rest of the story was definitely hot and makes me wish I could attend such parties. This story contains sexual elements with multiple partners, a bit of ripped clothing, flogging, and a bit of dirty talk.

The second story was one I was not fond of at all and would probably never re-read. It’s about a man who’s out in the jungle hunting..or something. I’m still not really sure. However, the man’s crew ends up discovering a cat…girl? (The “girl” is never really described as a woman but is described as furry, soft, and bites with pointed teeth and the other male character describes her womanly curves which leaves me confused.) The male character makes friends with the cat girl which leads to sex. Since I sincerely had a hard time imagining these two together plus I had just finished reading the first story which was amazing, I found myself let down by this second story. For someone with a furry fetish, it’s perfect, but I just feel like it was a bit out of place for a book titled “Telepaths Don’t Need Safewords”. This story just contains sex.

The third story is about BDSM story which I was happy to get back to. We revisit a couple of the third-party characters from the first story, but this time, the third-party female character is hosting a party. Another female Dominant and slave attend the party, and lots of female Dominants take turns punishing the male slave. The main female ends up being enraptured by the male slave’s beauty and asks the female Dominant what the price is to sell him. I won’t tell you what the price was, but it did earn her the male slave. The story doesn’t really have much in terms of sex in it – it does have lots of kink elements but no sexual ones. However, it was still well-written and a good read. It doesn’t compare to the first story, but it was still an enjoyable read. This story contains use of nipple clamps and heavy flogging.

Out of the three stories, the first one was easily my favorite. It had memorable characters and the telepathic element made it stand out among other kink stories I’ve read. I’d easily revisit this collection just for the first story, but I’d pass on the other two. However, if you enjoy kink or furries, the stories in this collection are well-written and a great read. Depending on your turn-ons, you’ll find them arousing as well.

Thanks so much for reviewing the book, MistressKay! You might want to know there is a prequel featuring just Arshan (before he met Mriah) that was published by Torquere Press, entitled “Royal Treatment.” It’s only in ebook form, they didn’t do a print edition of it. It’s 70 pages.

I am working on another book about Mriah and Arshan, telling the story of how they met. It doesn’t have a title yet… I need to finish writing it first.

    Thank again.

I actually ended up reading and reviewing “Royal Treatment” already for a future post, so you’ll see the review of that too soon here on Pop My Cherry. I really enjoy the characters of Mriah and Arshan – they are well-developed and erotic. I love reading about both of them.

Thank YOU for writing such good stuff to read. The word needs more sexy BDSM literature.
