ID Moments

ID Brand lubricants are some of my favorite lubes.  I have tried all of them including ID Glide (water-based), ID Pleasure (tingling) [my review], ID Sensation (warming), ID Millenium (silicone-based), and ID Juicy (flavored).  ID Millenium is one of the best silicone lubes I have tried and is less expensive than other brands of the same quality.  ID Pleasure and ID Sensation are both excellent lubes that actually do what they say: warm up and tingle.  So I was very excited to see that ID came out with a new lubricant, especially for women: ID Moments.

ID Moments is formulated especially for women.  It is hypoallergenic, glycerin and paraben-free.  Glycerins (sugars) and parabens (preservatives) are two of the most common ingredients that either irritate women, or can cause yeast infections.  So, for women who are sensitive to these two problems with other lubricants, ID Moments would be a good product to try as an alternative.

The texture of this lube is very nice-slick and slippery-so it lasts well for a water-based lubricant.  It smells and tastes slightly like green apple which is pleasant and not overpowering, although, for me having flavor in a lube is unnecessary and I prefer unflavored lubes which is why I like Millenium and Glide.  For some reason, lube companies tend to add flavors or fragrance to lubes for women.  I guess they figure women want that?  But, I far prefer less ingredients in a lubricant that could possibly be an irritant.

One strange thing about this lube, is that when I first applied it, my vulva heated up.  This lube is not a warming lube, so I’m wondering if I may have had some sort of reaction to it?  Every time I used it, I had the same reaction.  My vulva heated up like thrush for about 20 minutes and then the feeling went away.  It didn’t burn or feel irritable.  In fact, the sensation was pleasant.  It is just curious.

Red, from Red Sneaker Diaries has broken down the ingredients of this lube and explained it here.  She notes that both Hexylene Glycol and Phenoxyethanol are classified as irritants, so I wonder if this caused the warming sensation I had.  However, Red gives this lube a 5 STAR rating, so those two ingredients weren’t huge concerns for her.  Her review is very thorough and she is a big fan of this lube, so if you would like another opinion, check it out.

If it wasn’t for this strange warming sensation, I would have given ID Moments a pass.  But, because it is supposed to be for women who are sensitive to lubricants, and I did experience some kind of strange reaction to it, I can’t say that I recommend it as a hypoallergenic lube.  Personally, I would stay with ID Glide (water-based),  ID Millenium (silicone-based), both excellent lubes that I have never experienced reactions from.  Just because this was not right for me, doesn’t mean that other women will experience the same response however, so I recommend trying the ID sampler package to see which lube is perfect for you.   It contains a selection of the most popular ID lubricating products: Original Glide Personal Lubricant in a water-based formula, Millennium, a super concentrated waterproof silicone lube, Pleasure, which offers a pleasant tingling sensation, and Juicy Lube in Strawberry Kiwi, and Wild Cherry.
