Wet Originals
Okay. Yet another lube review. A girl can never have enough lube, but sometimes it can be a daunting task to actually use and evaluate every lube I get for review. I get tones. But, I do eventually get to them all and find out what ones I like best and hopefully pass on some useful information to you. It’s a hard job, but someone’s got to do it!
Last week I reviewed Wet Naturals which I totally recommend [my review]. This week I’m reviewing the two originals: Wet Platinum (silicone) and Wet Original (water-based) with Wet Pheromone (water-based). Although Wet Pheromone is not one of the originals, I didn’t know where else to put it. So here goes.
Wet Platinum Premium Body Glide (silicone)
I used Wet Platinum a few years back and at the same time was using Eros Bodyglide. Eros Bodyglide is very expensive, but an excellent lube. I was interested in seeing how Wet Platinum would compare. Both are very slippery and long lasting, although I would say that Eros has a thicker consistency. As far as performance, Wet Platinum works very well, although, now that I have used the Natural line, Wet Naturals Silky Supreme would be my Wet silicone lube of choice. Just because I think less is more, and less parabens in my lube is important to me.
Wet Original Gel Body Glide (water-based)
After using the Wet Naturals Beautifully Bare, I can’t say I really like the original that much in comparison. If I’d never tried BB I may have liked this lube, but BB is far superior. And, I just don’t see the need of all the extra added parabens and glycerin in a lube anymore, so I have to say that Wet Original may be obsolete.
Wet Pheromone (water-based)
Wet Pheromone is marketed as an “alluring lubricant”. Hmmm… kind of a strange marketing ploy really. I can see pheromones in scented products like essence oils or perfumes, but in a lubricant, a pheromone is a bit strange. Who, exactly, is going to be sniffing around my nether regions other than my dog, or occasionally my partner? Putting this lube on before a night on the town is certainly not going to bring lovers running to me like nymphos in heat. If it were I’d buy a thousand bottles. And, putting it on after you have initiated contact…well seems to defeat the purpose of the product? Still, pheromones in sexual products seems to be all the rage these days, so I guess Wet didn’t want to miss the boat with this one. Basically, it is a water-based lubricant that contains scent aka fragrance and smells a bit musky (which I rather like, but see as unnecessary in a lubricant). I prefer my lubes to be as “natural” as possible and have only the ingredients in them they absolutely need. I even hate preservatives in lubes, so fragrance (or if you want to call it pheromones) is really overkill.
Although these lubes aren’t bad compared to other ordinary lubes, now that Wet has the Naturals line out, I really can’t go back to my old way of thinking about personal lubricants anymore. Guys stroking probably wouldn’t care about the difference, but for women, having no parabens and glycerins in their personal lubes is important. So, the Wet Originals go to the boy partner, the Wet Pheromone to my dog Wolfgang (see if he can pick up a bitch) and I’ll take the Wet Naturals for me.
